I began with ‘Self-Worth’. I deviated in to 5 chapters. The rehearsal process saw a collapse of coherency. I ended with a product, a soup, a vomit of chaptered physical “chunks” amongst words of theory.
Winning, Possessions, Success, Pride, Autonomy, Religion, Self-Security in all senses. These are the chapters explored in the concept of a physical movement research study married with sound, video and text.
There is an account given in this work to the instability of describing ones self, or perhaps my own inability to form a structured path or description of who I am. I am still not sure yet, if in this work, I play myself, or a character.
What I am interested in is knowing, finding out and sourcing of the abstract that exists underneath the many layers of actions we assume in order to be “worthy”. Can it be that, if only for the duration of this performance, our efforts to be worthy contestants of society merely practiced performances of our own ideas of those we say are “worthy”?
What extent do we go to in order to feel worthy? do we sometimes go too far to feel it? and who judges it? can we survive with the concept of ‘making our bodies home’? – Daniel Jaber
