What happens when a choreographer obsessed by provokation decides to find a link between the famous, virtuosic classical ballet – the Grande Pas Classique (a pas de deux by Gsovsky/Auber created in 1949) and the 2005 hit “Kick It” by indie-rock-pop icons Iggy Pop and Peaches? The outcome is Agile – a duet that unveils perversion used on stage over a century long time-line. Philosophical texts demonstrate the deviant and perverse aesthetic of classical ballet in the 1900′s while Daniel Jaber creates significant and poetic images and questions of how that is reflective in modern day chart busting pop music and video clips. Gritty, grungy, poignant and unapologetic, Agile features codified classical movement material stretched to the very edge of its limits by 4 incredible dancers.

Jaber gives a magnificent demonstration of control, a myriad of quick, intimate movements of the hands
and arms, flowing sections, moments of prefect stillness and more, exhibiting the emotional ideas within the
work of fear of rejection, anxiety, self-doubt, fear of difference and being different, the effects of
commercialism on relationships and so much more. His dancing is illuminated by the animations of
Mahias Waldt, the sound compositions of Thomas Jeker and the lighting of Daniel Barber. These three
combine to add a great deal to the moods presented by Jaber in this remarkable work.
